In this essay, I explored a compassionate approach of engaging with a story that Mrs Shimako Yamazaki in Shiraoi, Hokkaido shared with me from her perspective as an Ainu elder. In this work, I focused on ideas such as shared empathy, decolonization, and unlearning. This work was produced as part of Going Postal by Akerman Daly.
